Honeymoon Waterfall Safaris
Private river decks, sunset cruises on the Zambezi and a swim at the edge of Victoria Falls: Africa's waterfalls for two.
A honeymoon waterfall safari pairs the drama of Africa's great falls with private, romantic lodges and quiet days in the wild. Victoria Falls is the classic choice: few places combine such a spectacle with riverside suites, candlelit dinners on sandbanks and elephants at the water's edge within an hour's drive.
Why the falls work for honeymoons
You can be as active or as relaxed as you like. Swim at Devil's Pool or take a helicopter flight together, then spend the afternoon on a private deck above the Zambezi. Add a few nights in Chobe or the Okavango for game drives and mokoro trips, and you have the most varied honeymoon in Africa.
Where to stay
Popular choices for couples include Tongabezi, with its open-fronted river houses and private dinners, the Royal Livingstone for sundowners with the spray in view, Matetsi for falls and safari in one place, and Nile Safari Lodge on the Nile at Murchison Falls.
Our honeymoon routes
Start with the seven-day Victoria Falls and Chobe safari and upgrade the lodges, or take the ten-day route with Hwange. For something different, combine gorillas and Murchison Falls in Uganda.
When to go
June to October is dry, mild and excellent for wildlife, with good water at Victoria Falls until about August. From mid-August Devil's Pool opens. See when to go.
