Ghana Waterfalls & Safaris

Ghana's Wli Falls is the highest in West Africa, in the hills of the Volta Region.

Ghana waterfall safaris start with the water. Wli Falls is the centrepiece of the Volta Region, alongside Mount Afadja and Tafi Atome's sacred monkeys. Add Cape Coast's castles and Mole National Park's elephants.

When to visit Ghana

Best time: November–March (dry) or May–October (falls). Waterfalls and wildlife peak at different times, so plan around both; see the seasonal calendar.

National parks to pair with the falls

  • Mole National Park
  • Kakum National Park
  • Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary

Planning a trip to Ghana

Wli Falls, in the Volta Region close to the border with Togo, is about four hours from Accra. A Ghana trip often combines the Volta Region with the forts of the Cape Coast and Kakum National Park over a week to ten days.

Practical tips
